Frequently Asked Questions
General
What is the Humly integration?
The Humly Connector is a service, owned by Haltian, that forwards Haltian IoT sensor measurements to the Humly Control Panel API. This lets Humly display sensor-derived data - such as temperature, humidity, CO₂, and presence/motion - against the rooms and desks managed in Humly’s own platform. The connector is multi-tenant: each Haltian organization that enables the integration gets its own configuration and its own connection to Humly.
Is this a two-way integration?
No. Data flows in one direction only: from Haltian IoT sensors to the Humly Control Panel API. The connector calls Humly’s API to register sensors and submit readings; Humly does not call back into Haltian IoT or the connector. There is no pull or reverse-sync direction.
Sensors and Hardware
Which sensor measurements are forwarded to Humly?
The connector maps specific Haltian measurement types to Humly sensor types:
| Haltian measurement type | Humly sensor type | Unit |
|---|---|---|
ambient_temperature, system_temperature | temperature | °C |
humidity | relativeHumidity | % |
barometric_pressure | pressure | - |
co2 | co2 | ppm |
occupancy_status, movement_detections, directional_movement | motion | - |
presence | presence | - |
Any measurement type not in this table is skipped - it is not forwarded to Humly and is not retried.
Are Humly sensors created automatically?
Yes. When the connector sees a supported measurement from a device for the first time, it automatically creates a corresponding sensor in Humly (identified using the device ID and measurement type). A newly created sensor appears as unassigned in Humly until it is manually mapped to a room or desk inside Humly’s own interface - the connector does not pre-configure that mapping.
Setup and Configuration
How do I onboard the Humly integration for my organization?
At a high level, onboarding involves:
- Contact Haltian Support to enable the Humly integration for your organization.
- A user with the manager role fills in one form in Haltian Studio with the Humly Control Panel base URL, username, description, and password, and submits it. A successful submit creates the connection and activates it.
- Verifying the integration is configured correctly.
Step 2 is self-service once the feature flag is enabled - a manager does not need Haltian to act on their behalf to configure the connection. The base URL must start with https:// and must not have a trailing slash. Each organization can have only one Humly integration.
Who is allowed to enable and configure the integration?
Haltian Support enables the integration for your organization. Once enabled, an organization user with the manager role has full control over the connection - creating it, providing the base URL and credentials, setting/rotating the password, and pausing, resuming, or deleting it - directly in Haltian Studio. Other customer roles do not have access to these controls.
Can I pause, edit, or remove an integration once it’s set up?
Yes. A Humly integration moves through defined lifecycle states - pending, active, paused, error, and disabled - and a user with the manager role can edit its configuration, rotate its password, pause and resume data forwarding, and delete the integration entirely, self-service in Haltian Studio.
How do I map a sensor to a specific room or desk in Humly?
Sensor-to-room mapping is done inside Humly’s own product, not in the Haltian IoT platform. Haltian’s side only handles creating the sensor in Humly and forwarding readings to it - there is currently no field or screen in the Haltian admin interface for linking a sensor to a Humly room or desk. Exactly how that mapping step should be performed is not fully documented yet, so if you run into this, check with Humly’s own documentation or your Humly administrator.
Privacy and Security
How are Humly credentials stored?
Per-tenant Humly credentials (used to log in to the Humly Control Panel API) are encrypted before being stored, and decrypted by the connector only when needed to authenticate.
Troubleshooting and Support
A measurement I expect to see in Humly never shows up
Only the measurement types listed in the mapping table above are forwarded to Humly. If the measurement type your device reports isn’t in that table, it is intentionally skipped and will not appear in Humly.
