Troubleshooting guide for the Haltian EH Locator covering power issues, network errors, maintenance schedules, and advanced installation scenarios.

Power LED Issues

Power LED off or blinking (indoor light harvesting)

  • Measure lux levels at installation height
  • Relocate to a brighter area (closer to light source)
  • Switch to USB-C power if light is insufficient
  • Check that solar panel is not blocked or obstructed

Power LED off when using USB-C

  • Verify USB-C cable is fully inserted
  • Test power adapter with another device
  • Check power outlet functionality
  • Try a different USB-C cable
  • Verify the power switch is in the ON position

Network LED Issues

Network LED blinking red

Network Error:

  • Verify gateway is online and operational
  • Check that locator is within mesh network range
  • Reduce distance to nearest locator or gateway
  • Check for RF obstructions (metal surfaces)

Battery Low:

  • Connect USB-C power immediately
  • If using solar, verify sufficient light exposure
  • Allow time for battery to recharge
  • Monitor battery level in Haltian Studio

Undefined Error:

  • Power cycle device (off/on)
  • Check firmware version in Haltian Studio
  • Contact support if persistent

Network LED stays blinking green for > 5 minutes

  • Verify gateway is powered on and connected
  • Reduce distance to gateway or another locator
  • Check for RF interference sources
  • Power cycle device and wait 2–3 minutes

Device Not Appearing in Haltian Studio

  • Verify device was properly provisioned to your organization
  • Check that gateway is online and connected
  • Wait 5–10 minutes for initial discovery
  • Power cycle the locator
  • Verify QR code matches device in Studio
  • Contact support for device provisioning

Maintenance

Regular Maintenance Schedule

Monthly (if using energy harvesting):

  • Check battery level in Haltian Studio
  • Verify power harvesting status
  • Clean solar panel if dusty (dry cloth only)

Quarterly:

  • Verify device online status
  • Check RSSI signal strength
  • Review message delivery statistics
  • Update firmware if new version available

Annually:

  • Physical inspection of mounting
  • Verify LEDs function during power-on
  • Test battery backup (disconnect USB-C temporarily)
  • Clean device exterior if needed

Advanced Installation Scenarios

Low-Light Environments

For storage areas, basements, or 24/7 dark areas:

  • Always use USB-C power (energy harvesting insufficient)
  • Consider PoE-USB-C adapters for centralized power management
  • Plan cable routing before installation

Temporary Installations

For events, construction sites, or pilot projects:

  • Use mounting bracket with removable adhesive or zip ties
  • Prefer USB-C power for easy relocation
  • Document installation positions for future reference
