Before You Begin

Package Contents

Verify you have received all components:

Haltian Gateway XS unit
12V DC power supply
Cellular antenna (SMA connector)
2.4 GHz radio antenna (SMA connector)
Mounting accessories (TBD)

Additional Requirements

You will need:

Power outlet: Standard AC outlet appropriate for your region
Network access: Cellular coverage at the installation site
Tools: Screwdriver for mounting (if required)

Pre-Configured Connectivity

Cellular connectivity and SIM card are configured by Haltian before delivery. The gateway connects to the cellular network automatically after power-on — no SIM installation or network configuration is required by the customer.

Overview

The Gateway XS is designed for minimal customer configuration. Cellular connectivity is pre-configured by Haltian before delivery, and no customer network configuration is required for the standard deployment.

Cellular Connectivity

The LTE cellular connection is fully managed by Haltian:

SIM card: Pre-installed and configured — no customer action required
Network registration: Automatic on power-on
APN settings: Pre-configured
Connection management: Handled by gateway firmware

Normal Operation

Startup Sequence

Gateway boot process takes approximately 60–90 seconds:

Power On (0-5 seconds)
- Hardware initialization
- Self-test procedures
Network Initialization (5-30 seconds)
- Network interfaces activate
- Cellular registration
Cloud Connection (30-60 seconds)
- TLS connection establishment
- Authentication and registration
- NTP synchronization
Wirepas Mesh Start (60-90 seconds)
- 2.4 GHz radio initialization
- Network scanning
- Sink role activation

Note

The Gateway XS does not have user-visible status LEDs. Monitor operational state through Haltian Studio.

Quick Diagnostic Checklist

Before detailed troubleshooting, verify these basics:

Power supply connected and power supply LED is on
Both antennas properly installed (finger-tight, no wobble)
Gateway appears in Haltian Studio (cloud connected)
Firmware version is current (check for updates)

The Gateway XS does not have user-visible status LEDs. All diagnostics are performed through Haltian Studio.

Gateway Not Appearing Online

Symptom: Gateway does not show as Online in Haltian Studio within 5 minutes of power-on.

Availability

Gateway XS supports two cloud backhaul options: Haltian-managed cellular connectivity and wired LAN connectivity. A deployment uses either cellular or LAN as its backhaul according to the deployment requirements.

LAN access is available for customer-specific deployments. Confirm the service scope and network requirements with Haltian before deployment.

Use cases

LAN access is intended for locations where the customer’s IT or security requirements call for a wired network connection instead of cellular backhaul.
