Connectivity options
Which backhaul options does Gateway XS support?
Gateway XS supports two cloud backhaul options:
- Cellular: Haltian-managed LTE Cat1bis connectivity
- LAN: Wired Ethernet connectivity for customer-specific deployments
A deployment uses either cellular or LAN as its cloud backhaul according to the deployment requirements.
Is LAN connectivity available for Gateway XS?
Yes. LAN connectivity is available for customer-specific deployments. Contact Haltian before deployment to confirm the service scope and approved network requirements.
Does LAN connectivity require inbound firewall access?
No. The gateway initiates outbound connections to Haltian services and does not require inbound ports to be opened on the customer network. The approved firewall rules, endpoint domains, ports, and transport-security requirements depend on the deployment configuration.
Which connection should I use?
Use cellular where a suitable LTE network is available and a local wired network is not required. Use LAN where the customer’s IT or security requirements call for a wired connection. Contact Haltian when selecting the backhaul for a customer-specific deployment.
Cellular connectivity
Which cellular technology does Gateway XS use?
Gateway XS uses LTE Cat1bis through a SIMCOM SIM7672 modem. The SIM is pre-installed and configured by Haltian for the standard cellular deployment.
Which LTE bands does Gateway XS support?
Gateway XS supports the LTE-FDD and LTE-TDD bands listed in the cellular bands table.
Supported bands do not guarantee service with every operator or at every deployment location. Confirm the target operator’s coverage and band compatibility before deployment.
Does Gateway XS support 2G fallback?
Gateway XS is designed for LTE connectivity. Confirm LTE coverage at the deployment location before choosing a cellular deployment.
How do I check cellular coverage for a deployment?
- Identify the target country and mobile operator.
- Compare the operator’s LTE bands with the supported cellular bands.
- Check the operator’s coverage map for the installation location.
- Contact Haltian for enterprise deployments or uncertain markets.
