Device Alerts
For Viewers & Installers
Roles: Viewer, Installer, Designer, Manager
Monitor device health alerts including battery warnings and connectivity issues.
Accessing Device Alerts
From the sidebar, tap Device alerts under the Devices section.
Alert Types
Battery Voltage Warnings
The system monitors battery voltage for supported device types:
| Device Model | Warning Threshold |
|---|---|
| XSATS1, TSATS1 | Less than 2.26V |
| Viking Classic/Slim/Tough | Less than 2.1V |
| XXRB01, TSRB01 | Less than 3.2V |
Devices with battery voltage below these thresholds are flagged for battery replacement.
Offline Gateway Alerts
Gateway devices that haven’t connected in 30+ minutes:
- TSGL00, TSGL04, TSGL05 gateways
- Generic Wirepas gateways
These alerts indicate potential network connectivity issues.
Alert Dashboard
The alert dashboard shows:
- Color-coded counts: Red indicates devices needing attention, green means no issues
- Device type grouping: Alerts are organized by device model
- Total counts: Number of devices in each alert category
Reading the Dashboard
- Red numbers: Devices currently in alert state
- Green checkmarks: No devices in alert state
- Device model labels: Which type of device has alerts
Viewing Affected Devices
- Tap an alert category (e.g., “Battery voltage warnings”)
- See the list of devices in that alert state
- Tap a device to view details
- Take appropriate action (replace battery, check connectivity, etc.)
Refreshing Alerts
Tap Refresh in the toolbar to update alert counts with current data.
Tip: Pull down on the list to refresh as well.
Alert Response Workflow
For Battery Alerts
- View the list of low-battery devices
- Note their locations
- Plan battery replacement route
- Replace batteries in the field
- Verify devices reconnect and voltage returns to normal
- Check alert dashboard to confirm resolution
For Offline Gateways
- View the list of offline gateways
- Note their last communication time
- Check physical gateway location
- Verify network connectivity
- Restart gateway if necessary
- Monitor alert dashboard for reconnection
Alert Notifications
Alerts in this view are:
- Passive: They appear in the alert dashboard
- Updated with each refresh
- Based on latest device data
Note: This is different from push notifications. The iOS app shows alerts when you check, but doesn’t push notifications to your device.
Integrations with Other Features
Device Details
From an alert, tap a device to see:
- Current battery voltage
- Last communication time
- Full measurement history
- Installation location
Configuration Log
Check the configuration log to see:
- When a device’s configuration changed
- Who made changes
- Whether changes might have affected battery life or connectivity
Device Groups
Create device groups based on alert categories:
- “Low Battery Devices”
- “Offline Gateways”
- “Devices Needing Attention”
Best Practices
Regular Monitoring
- Check device alerts daily or weekly depending on deployment size
- Set a schedule for alert review
- Respond to critical alerts (offline gateways) immediately
- Plan battery replacements proactively
Preventive Maintenance
- Track devices approaching battery thresholds
- Replace batteries before they hit warning levels
- Keep spare batteries on hand
- Document battery replacement dates in device notes
Alert Triage
Priority levels:
- Critical: Offline gateways (affects network connectivity)
- High: Very low battery devices (near failure)
- Medium: Low battery devices (plan replacement)
- Low: Devices recently in alert state but now resolved
Troubleshooting
Alert Not Clearing
If an alert persists after fixing the issue:
- Wait a few minutes for the device to report new data
- Refresh the alert dashboard
- Check that the device is communicating (last seen time)
- Verify the fix was successful (check battery voltage in device details)
False Alerts
If you see alerts for devices that appear normal:
- Check the actual measurement values in device details
- Verify threshold values are appropriate for your device model
- Consider environmental factors (extreme temperatures affect batteries)
- Contact support if thresholds seem incorrect
