Device Installation

Overview

The Device Installation workflow lets you place devices onto specific floors in your space hierarchy. You select a floor, view its floor plan map with zones and already-installed devices, then add new devices by scanning their QR code or searching by name/ID. Each device is positioned on the map using a crosshair targeting system.

Requirements

Step 1: Select a Floor

When you open Device Installation from the Setup section, you see a list of all floors in your organization.

Each floor entry shows:

• Floor plan thumbnail (if a drawing is uploaded)
• Site name
• Building / Floor name

Floors are sorted alphabetically by building, then by site, then by floor name.

Tap a floor to open the installation map view.

Step 2: Floor Map View

The floor map view shows three sections:

Floor Plan Map

An interactive map displaying:

• Floor plan drawing (when available)
• Zones — outlined on the map
• Already-installed devices — shown as dimmed markers so you can see existing placements
• Zoom dimensions — real-world measurements (meters/feet) showing the visible area and coverage

Map interactions:

• Pinch to zoom in/out
• Swipe to pan
• Tap a device marker to open its Device Details

Devices List

Below the map, a list shows all devices currently installed on the selected floor. Tap any device to view its details.

When no devices are installed: “No devices installed on this floor.”

Step 3: Add a Device

Use the toolbar buttons at the top to add a device to the floor:

Via QR Code

1. Tap the QR scanner button (viewfinder icon) in the toolbar
2. Scan the device’s QR code
3. The device is identified and ready for placement

Via Search

1. Tap the Search button (magnifying glass icon) in the toolbar
2. Enter the device name, serial number, or ID
3. Select the device from the results

Step 4: Position on Map

After identifying a device, the installation map opens with a crosshair overlay:

1. Pan and zoom the floor plan to the intended device location
2. The red crosshair in the center of the screen indicates where the device will be placed
3. Align the crosshair with the physical installation point
4. Confirm the placement

The app converts the screen position to real-world coordinates based on the floor plan’s coordinate reference.

Step 5: Verify Installation

After placing a device:

• The map refreshes to show the newly installed device
• A confirmation message appears (“Device installed to floor”)
• The device count in the Devices section updates

AR Floor Plan View

On supported devices (with LiDAR), an AR button appears in the toolbar. This lets you view the floor plan overlaid in augmented reality at scale, helping you verify device positions against the physical space.

Available AR scales:

• 1:50
• 1:100
• Other preset ratios

Sharing Floor Plans

Tap the Share button to export the current floor plan view as an image — useful for documentation or sharing with team members.

Uninstalling a Device

To remove a device from a floor:

1. Tap the device on the map or in the device list
2. Open its Device Details
3. Use the Uninstall option to remove it from the floor

The map refreshes automatically and shows “Device removed from floor.”

Best Practices

• Upload floor plans first — Install devices with a floor plan drawing for accurate positioning
• Zoom in before placing — Better zoom level means more precise coordinates
• Check existing placements — Dimmed device markers show what’s already installed, helping you avoid overlaps
• Verify after install — Use Health Check to confirm the device is communicating after physical installation
