Device Alerts

Monitor device health alerts including battery warnings and connectivity issues

Overview

The Device Alerts dashboard gives you a quick overview of devices that need attention — specifically, devices with low battery voltage and gateways that have gone offline. Use this screen to plan maintenance visits and catch connectivity issues early.

Requirements

Roles: Viewer, Installer, Designer, Manager

All roles can view device alerts.

Accessing Device Alerts

From the main navigation, tap Device alerts under the Devices section.

Alert Types

Battery Voltage Warnings

The system monitors battery voltage for supported device models and flags devices that fall below safe thresholds:

Device ModelWarning Threshold
XSATS1, TSATS1Below 2.26 V
Viking Classic / Slim / ToughBelow 2.1 V
XXRB01, TSRB01Below 3.2 V

Devices below these thresholds are likely to stop functioning soon and need battery replacement.

Offline Gateway Alerts

Gateway devices that haven’t communicated in over 30 minutes are flagged as offline:

  • TSGL00, TSGL04, TSGL05 gateways
  • Generic Wirepas gateways

An offline gateway means sensors connected through it cannot report data.

Reading the Dashboard

The dashboard displays alert categories with color-coded counts:

IndicatorMeaning
Red numberDevices currently in alert state — action needed
Green checkmarkNo devices in that alert category — all clear

Alerts are grouped by device model so you can quickly see which types of devices need attention.

Viewing Affected Devices

  1. Tap an alert category (e.g., battery warnings for a specific model)
  2. See the list of devices in that alert state
  3. Tap a device to open its Device Details for full information
  4. Take action — replace battery, check gateway connectivity, etc.

Refreshing Alerts

Tap Refresh in the toolbar to update alert counts with the latest data.

Alert Response Workflows

Battery Replacement

  1. Check the battery alerts dashboard for low-voltage devices
  2. Note the device locations (tap each device for its location details)
  3. Plan an efficient replacement route
  4. Replace batteries in the field
  5. Verify devices reconnect — check Measurements for updated voltage readings
  6. Refresh the alerts dashboard to confirm resolution

Offline Gateway Recovery

  1. Check the offline gateway alerts
  2. Note the last communication time for each gateway
  3. Visit the gateway’s physical location
  4. Verify network connectivity (Ethernet, Wi-Fi, or cellular)
  5. Restart the gateway if necessary
  6. Monitor the alerts dashboard for reconnection

Best Practices

  • Check regularly: Review alerts daily or weekly depending on your deployment size
  • Prioritize gateways: An offline gateway affects all sensors connected to it — address these first
  • Plan proactively: Track devices approaching battery thresholds and replace before they hit warning levels
  • Keep spares: Maintain spare batteries on hand for field visits
  • Document replacements: Use Notes to record when batteries were replaced on each device
